Once a month we highlight a Wisconsin restaurant with superior food, atmosphere and service and we have a place that hits a home-run in all three categories. It’s called The Wright Place on 6th, and it’s located in the gorgeous Andrew Warren District of Wausau. The first thing you’ll notice is the amazing architecture of the restaurant, which was once a home. It’s Italianate-design and designated a Wausau Historic Landmark. The home was designed by Eli Wright, and when restaurant owner Patricia Kay walked in to the building that would soon be her future restaurant she thought, “This is The Wright Place.” In a nod to the home’s founder, she named the Restaurant ”The Wright Place on 6th.”

This is a restaurant I can’t recommend enough. It’s charming, elegant but without stuffiness, and the food is incredible down to every detail. That’s because of Executive Chef Travis Teska, who started cooking at the age of four! Travis attended the prestigious Johnson & Wales University in Denver Colorado and graduated with a degree in Culinary Arts.

The Wasabi Pea Encrusted Ahi Tuna and Coconut Shrimp Appetizers are customer favorites. Dinner specialties include Wild Mushroom and Gnochi in Cream Sauce, Pork Tenderloin with Strawberry Chutney, and Squash Ravioli with rich Brandy Cream Sauce. Desserts are outstanding, from their Vanilla Bean Cream Brulee to their homemade ice creams.
